In an attempt to do things other than work, i have hit flickr in earnest uploading pictures from CAA 2004 and some from a visit to Stonehenge. Next stop, proper wordpress blog!

A major fire at the weekend destroyed one of the Electronics and Computer Science buildings at the university. There are pictures on the temporary wiki set up to help people during this time; what remains of the site looks like a mess...

While scientists have been struggling against the rising tide of ID proponents and their misuse of the term theory, one man has managed to beat them at their own game: The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster has a rather unique twist on the whole debate, and uses the same arguments as ID proponents to argue a plainly ridiculous stance!

Yes, just to reiterate, a theory is a hypothesis which has been tested and is supported by the available evidence. It is not something made-up or based on dubious interpretations of literary sources. See what the WikiPedia or the Oxford English Dictionary has to say on this.

 

 

Went to the Beggars Fair the other weekend and had a great time; will definitely go again next year. Great music, atmosphere, food and beer :-)

I found a nerd test on the internet - give it a go. It's really simple and just asks a series of basic questions. I didn't thinnk i was particularly nerdy in my responses, but hey; I don't know whether to be pleased or not with my result yet...
